Caribou
Men’s 30 and over basketball
    Men’s 30 and over basketball meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center There is a $3 per player fee on Sundays.

Adult volleyball
    The recreation department is offering a pick-up volleyball league for area adults on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. through April 20, 2009. Please note time change. Participants must be out of high school.
Winter hours
    The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center is now on winter hours. Walking is available from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 1-4 p.m. The gymnasium is available during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. however, regularly scheduled activities occur during those times so call ahead to check on availability.
    The game room is available for seniors and or supervisors and clients from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and for school age students from 2:30-8 p.m. except during early release days, some holidays and vacation weeks when the game room will open at 1 p.m. Saturday the game room is open 1-4 p.m.
    A reminder that only students in grades 7 and over are allowed after 6 p.m. Also students in grades 3 or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Grades 1-2 basketball
    Grades 1-2 basketball will start on February 9, 2009 from 3-4:30 p.m. Session 1 will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and Session 2 will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pre-registration is required.
Grades 7-8 basketball
    This year there will be an informal league for grade 7 -8 girls and boys. This program will start on Feb. 9, 2009 and meets Mondays and Wednesdays. Pre-registration is required.
Learn to Skate grades 1–4
    The learn to skate program meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. starting Jan. 21, 2009. This program is designed to introduce youngsters to the fundamentals of ice skating. The program will be held at the outdoor rink located in Teague Park. Pre-registration is required.
Ski Daddle grades 3–6
    The ski daddle program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. starting Jan 19, 2009. Lessons will be held at the Teague Park and will include an introduction to equipment and techniques including turning, diagonal stride, skating, uphill and downhill techniques and lots of outdoor fun. There will be some equipment available however students are welcome to bring their own equipment. Pre-registration is required.

Ft. Fairfield

Open Gym
    The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium and Game Room is open to the public for free play on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00-8:30pm, Saturday afternoon from 1:00-4:00pm, and Sunday afternoon from 12:00-4:00pm.  There is no charge to participate. 
Adult Basketball
    The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open for adult basketball (18 and over) on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm.  Teams are selected each night from all those in attendance.  The cost is $2 each night or $40 for the entire season.
Pee Wee and Youth Basketball
    Pee Wee Basketball for boys and girls in grades 2 and 3 and Youth Basketball for boys and girls in grades 4-6 is now underway at the Community Center.  Games and practices are being held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings for the youth players in grades 4-6.  Games and practices are being held Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings for the pee-wee players in grades 2 and 3. 
    Both the pee-wee and youth programs will continue play through the beginning of February 2009.  Registration forms are available at the Fort Fairfield Community Center for anyone who has not already registered to play.  If you have any questions regarding these programs, please contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department at 472-3882.
Indoor Walking and Jogging
    The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open to the public for walking, jogging, and exercising Monday through Friday from 6:00am-12:00noon (except on holidays).  There is no charge to participate.
Cross-Country Ski Rentals

The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is now renting out cross-country ski packages for the winter. 
    The cost for rental is $25 for the first child and $20 for each additional package for family members.  The cross-country ski package includes skis, bindings, boots, and poles.  Please contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department for an appointment at 472-3882.
After School Cross-Country Ski Program
    The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Maine Winter Sports Center will be conducting a cross-country ski program again this winter starting sometime the middle of January.  The program is for boys and girls in grades 2-6 and will be held after school on the Fort Fairfield Ski Trails.  More information about the program will be forthcoming soon.
Saturday kids Ski Club
    The Nordic Heritage Sport Club along with the Maine Winter Sports Center and local recreation and parks departments are sponsoring the Saturday Kids Ski Club to be held at the Nordic Heritage Center on Saturdays from 10:00am-12:00noon beginning on January 17 and ending on March 28.
     This program is open to all Aroostook County kids who are currently in grades 2-8.  The program is designed for kids of all abilities including first time skiers as well as the more experienced.  The cost to participate is $10 per skier.  You can register for the Kids Ski Club through your local recreation department or by contacting Melissa at the Maine Winter Sports Center at 227-0250.
Ice Skating
    The Fort Fairfield outdoor ice skating rink is scheduled to be open by Saturday, December 27 (weather permitting).  The warming hut will be open daily from 12:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm during Christmas vacation.  After vacation week, the warming hut will be open Monday-Friday from 3:30-5:30pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00-4:00pm.  Skates are available to use for free.
Field Trips
    The parks and recreation department will be sponsoring field trips over Christmas vacation.  We will be going to the movies in Caribou on one day and tubing at Big Rock on another day.  Registration forms with all the details will be distributed at school next week.
Big Rock Tickets
    The parks and recreation department will be selling reduced rate tickets to ski at Big Rock Mountain again this winter.  The cost is $19 for a junior ticket ($3 savings) and $24 for an adult ticket ($6 savings).  Please call the parks and recreation department at 472-3882 to arrange for your purchase.
