On Dec.14 the members of the Whittier Congregational Church held their annual Christmas party following the morning service in the vestry of the church.
A potluck luncheon was served by members of the Women’s Fellowship following grace, given by John Stevens, interim pastor.
Following the luncheon a Yankee swap was much enjoyed by the members attending, along with much laughter and good fellowship.
Recent guests for the day at the home of Clayton and Charlene Webb have been their nephew and wife, Buddy and Linda Webb, who came from Veazie to say Merry Christmas. Walt and Gwen O’Roak arrived in town last week to spend some time at their home here and on Dec. 13 they hosted the annual family Christmas party. Sons and daughters and grandchildren had a great time and the weather cooperated so all could get there. The O’Oroak’s have since returned back to Camden, where they will be this winter.
I still have lots of birds flocking to the feeders, but have not seen hide nor hair of the cardinal again. They are quite elusive, so I guess it is hard to see them every day. I have been throwing out bread pieces and the blue jays and starlings are happy about that. The big gray squirrel has been in attendance, hanging practically upside down, to get at the birdseeds. And no deer. Still have seen no tracks out back or around the house, and a neighbor up the street who had seen them earlier this fall has had no sign of them, either. Guess we will have to wait until spring.
