Vernon – Roland R. Belanger, 64, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his home following a short illness with his wife and best friend of 40 years at his side.
The son of the late Leonard and Madeline Plant Belanger, he was born July 29, 1944, in Caribou , Maine. Mr. Belanger had resided in Hamburg and Stockholm, moving to the Barry Lakes section of Vernon 30 years ago.
Mr. Belanger formerly worked in the electronics industry and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was predeceased by a sister, Florine Belanger in 2007.
Mr. Belanger leaves behind a circle of golf buddies and spa friends as well as his wife, Phyllis Bullivant Belanger; and a guardian angel, Flo of Warwick, who was by him and his wife’s side during his illness. He is also survived by ten brothers and sisters, Angela and Ed Carpenter of Florida, Irene and Gary Adams of Connecticut, Norma and Russell Lyon of Maine, Patricia and Dennis Beaudry of Georgia, John Belanger of Maine, Paul and Sue Belanger of New Hampshire, Mary and Fred Adams of Connecticut; Mark and Laurel Belanger of North Carolina, Jim and Debbie Belanger of Maine and Amy and Henry Brady of Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon. Interment followed at North Hardyston Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
