CARIBOU — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host the 2009 Maine Potato Conference on January 21 and 22 at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Registration is $7 per day, or $12 for both days. Presentations on insect, disease, and weed pests of potatoes are scheduled. Presentations on potato agronomy, varieties, safety and other timely topics are also scheduled. Of particular interest this year is free hearing screening. Come and get your hearing tested while at the conference.
Credits will be available for those holding a valid pesticide applicator license or CCA license. Complete conference schedule is available by clicking on the winter potato conference link at www.umaine.edu/umext/potatoprogram. Registration also gives entrance to the trade fair sponsored by the Young Farmer Organization. Over two dozen exhibitors have display booths with the latest in storage technology, agricultural chemistry, machinery and crop insurance, just to name a few.
