Dead woman found, cash missing

HOULTON — State Police say a young Arizona woman who had threatened suicide before Christmas, and who received treatment, was found dead in Houlton last week. She had tried to enter Canada last month with $43,000 and custom agents also found suicide notes when searching her purse. As a result, she was sent to a Maine hospital for evaluation and, then, later released.
Last week her body, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was found in woods near the Houlton Port of Entry. There was no sign of the money she previously had and State and Houlton Police are looking into whether she may have mailed the money to friends in Canada prior to her death.
