Girl Scout Troop 577 visits New York

IN DECEMBER, eight members from Girl Scout Troop 677 in Presque Isle traveled to New York City for a weekend adventure. The girls, age 11 to 18, visited NBC, the Statue of Liberty, and saw “The Lion King” on Broadway. Before heading home, they attended a Broadway class taught by Michelle Robinson of “Chicago.”

While at NBC, they made a significant donation to the NBC Holiday Toy Drive. The girls all had a great time and wished the trip could have been longer. Pictured are, from left: Desiree Higgins, Karrie Brawn, Jordyn Madore, Kelsey Gilson, Julia Brown, Emily Brawn, Alyssa Hewitt and Olivia Goulet. Gilson, a seven-year Girl Scout, recently earned her Girl Scout Bronze Award. This is the highest award available to Junior Girl Scouts. She hosted a day of healthy games and snacks for girls up to age eight. The activities were designed to show the girls that being healthy and active doesn’t have to be boring. All the girls had a great time and didn’t want the day to end.
