Ruth Frazier, Island Falls recreation director, invites residents and visitors to enjoy the upcoming Winterfest events:
Friday, March 6th
Trike/Bike or Walk-A-Thon, sponsored by Island Falls Playground Committee
— 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Island Falls Municipal Building, Three Categories: riders up to age 6, riders ages 6 -10 years of age, and walkers of all ages. Sponsor sheets available at the town office or by calling Ruth at 463-2263. All proceeds will benefit I.F. Playground and the award will be given to the person with the most pledges.
Foul Shooting Contest — Boys and Girls, sponsored by I.F. Rec.
— 5 p.m. ages 7 and under, 5:15 p.m. ages 8-9, 5:30 ages 10-11, 5:45 age 12-13,
— 6 p.m. ages 14-15, 6:15 ages 16-17 and at 6:30 ages 18 and over. Best of 15 shots wins trophy.
Spaghetti Supper
— 5 to 7 p.m. Big Valley Sno Club. Adults $7; children $5.
Saturday, March 7th
Home and Garden Show, sponsored by Northern Katahdin Valley Region Chamber of Commerce at I.F. Municipal Bldg.
— 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission, door prizes, displays, contractors, builders and estimates. For information, call 463-4634.
Log Drivers Cookout at Big Valley Sno Club, Route 2, Island Falls
— Noon to 2 p.m. World’s largest coffee pot and Bean Hole beans meal. Adults $7; children $5. For information, call Gil at 463-2656 or Bruce at 463-2726.
Sunday, March 8th
Pet Show, sponsored by I.F. Rec at I.F. Municipal Building
– 2 p.m. Come and see the critters of our area. Animals of all kinds welcome. Prizes given for the following categories: best of show, winter fashion style (best dressed) and most obedient. To enter your pet, call 463-2303 by March 7th at 6 p.m.

Celebrity dinner at Craig’s Maine Course – People volunteering their time to raise funds for the AGAPE food pantry, I.F. playground, Girl Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, senior citizens or I.F. Fire Department.
If you are interested in purchasing a ticket to help out any of the organizations, call Ruth at 463-2263 . Tickets are $15 per person, and all tips will go to the organization of your choice. There will be a Chinese auction during the event.

Rollerblade or Rollerskate, sponsored by I.F. Rec. at I.F. Municipal building.
— 6 to 8 p.m. Music, fun and games. All are welcome, concessions will be available. Admission is $1 per person, some roller skates available on a 1st come 1st served basis.
Thursday, March 12th
Variety show sponsored by I.F. Playground Committee
— 6 p.m. Local entertainment, karate demonstration and singing. Call Ruth at 463-2263 to sign up. Adults $2; students $1.
Friday and Saturday
March 13th and 14th
Friday — 5 to 8 p.m. This ‘n That Booths – I.F. Municipal Building, tag sale, jewelry, crafts food, etc. For booth rentals, call Ruth at 463-2263. $10 per space.
Saturday — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — This ‘n That Booths
Kids’ Dance at I.F. Municipal Building
— 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. up to 5th grade, $2 per person
— 8 to 11 p.m. 6th grade through 12th grade, $3 per person
Winter theme photo display, sponsored by I.F. Rec.
Three categories: winter family fun, animals in winter, winter scenes. Drop your best photo off by March 11th between 6 and 8 p.m. at I.F. Municipal Building or call Ruth to make arrangements. Voting will be by people’s choice. No professional photographers; submit any size photo you have taken yourself with name and phone number on back of photo.
SNOW SCULPTING, sponsored by I.F. Rec.
Call Ruth at 463-2263 to enter by March 14th. Start sculpting anytime. Judging on March 15th, approximately at 2 p.m. Entries from Island Falls, Crystal and Dyer Brook only. Cash prizes will be given for first, second and third place.�
