    Middletown, NY – Anna Marie Beemer of Middletown died at home Thursday, February 5, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.  Anna was born in Limestone, Maine, July 31, 1922 to the late Edward and Iva Brown McDonald.
    She served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII, and met her husband Bill at a USO Dance in Maine. She married William Beemer in Houlton, Maine and in 1995 they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
    She was a Lay Carmelite, the 3rd Order of Carmelites Edith Stein Chapter, and often attended Mass and gatherings at The National Shrine Of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
    Family time was most important to Ann. She was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed hot air balloon rides, Irish Ballads and being with her family and friends.
    She is survived by her five sons Robert and his wife Katherine of Middletown, Steven and his life partner Valerie of Hawley, PA, Daniel and his wife Debbie of Pt. Jervis, Gregory and his wife Joie, of Grand Island, Fla., James and his fiancé Dawn of Highland, NY; three daughters Betty Burke-Liptak of Mulberry Fl., Peggy Phillips and her husband Steven of Cuddebackville, Kathleen Barrone and her husband Samuel of Middletown; one brother Joel McDonald of Bayside; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
    She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2002, her brother Rev. Robert McDonald and her two sisters  Faye Geden and Letha Mamola.
    Visitation hours were 2-4 and 7-9 Monday, February 9, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave.,  Middletown, NY 10940.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of  Assumption, Bloomingburg, NY. Cremation will be private and her ashes will be buried in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen with full military honors in the Spring.
