MANCHESTER, N.H. – Shirley E. Hall, 84, died Feb. 17, 2009, at Maple Leaf Health Center after a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Houlton, to Fred and Eva (Clark) Sewell.
Shirley was a graduate of Houlton High School and traveled throughout the world with her husband, Sterling, who served in the military for 30 years. She was predeceased by Sterling in 1990.
Shirley is survived by her son, James F. Hall of Manchester, N.H.; and her daughters, Barbara Snyder of Northwood, N.H., and Cheryl and Jim George of Austin, Texas; grandchildren include Matthew and Sarah Normand, Julie and James F. Hall Jr., Promise and Adam Lawrence, Kaitlyn E. Snyder, Todd and Dana George, Katie and Thomas Hallberg; ten great-grandchildren include, Molly Normand, Olivia Maietta, Colby Hall, Benjamin Normand, Ryder Lawrence, Grace George, Lauren Hallberg, Sarah Hallberg, Phoebe George and Haley Hallberg. Special thanks are extended to Rosemary Hall and Kyle Stimpson for their devotion to Shirley. Shirley will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law, Valla Hall and Thelma Saucier, and their families; as well as many nieces and nephews who reside in Maine, including Linda Sawyer and Connie McCormick, who visited Shirley often with their mom, Betty Batchelder, Shirley's sister, who passed away in 2008.
A celebration of life was held 2-4 p.m. March 9 at Maiden-Petrin Funeral Home, Four Corners, Candia, N.H.
