Grade 6 CMS student
Fifth grade student Ben Ezzy presented the idea of a student paper to Caribou Middle School Principal, Ms. White in November. Ben first came up with the idea while reading the Caribou city newspaper, The Aroostook Republican, and thought it would be exciting to create a newspaper for our school.

Ben Ezzy, a fifth-grader at CMS,was recently nominated for the Gifted and Talented Distinguished Student Award given each year by the MEGAT board.
After receiving a green light from Ms. White, Ben took the idea of the school newspaper to Mrs. Alden, Caribou’s gifted and talented director. This winter was the newspaper’s first publication. Because of this accomplishment, Ben was nominated for the Gifted and Talented Distinguished Student Award given each year by the MEGAT board (Maine Educators Gifted and Talented).
When Ben was asked how he felt about being nominated for this award, he commented by saying he was surprised and happy about the possibility of winning.
Ben is the son of Richard and Kim Ezzy of Caribou. In addition to his work on the newspaper, Ben also enjoys several sports like skiing, tennis, basketball, baseball, soccer and swimming. Ben’s application for the MEGAT award will be sent in by May 2009. We are all in suspense for when the winner is revealed. Go Ben! We are all rooting for you!
