HOULTON — Tim Hortons, located at 290 North St. in Houlton, has undergone a change recently, with a switch in ownership to Scottie and Brenda Bragdon, owners of three other Tim Horton facilities in Aroostook, including two in Presque Isle and one in Caribou.

Brenda and Scottie Bragdon are the owners of Tim Horton’s in Caribou, Houlton, and two in Presque Isle.
The Houlton branch has been serving the community for more than five years. Continuing that Always Fresh service Houlton has known for years is the goal of the new owners.
The Bragdons are no strangers to Maine, having lived in the county for the past 20 years. They also know what it takes to be a part of the Tim Hortons family, having been owner/operators of the Presque Isle and Caribou Tims for the past four years.
“The Houlton community has been so welcoming. We’re just looking forward to meeting everyone who hasn’t stopped by yet,” said Scottie Bragdon. “Tim Hortons is a routine here much like in Presque Isle. We’re learning what our regulars want, making sure it’s ready for them when they arrive and introducing ourselves to new faces every day.”
Bragdon said he enjoys the work and the people who visit his businesses, both newcomers and regulars. When the opportunity arose to acquire a fourth branch, the decision was simple.
“When we were offered the chance to do this (become owners of the Houlton branch), we took it,” said Scottie.
Customer service and quality products are important to the Bragdons.
“We pride ourselves in offering fast, quality service. The price of our coffee, ounce for ounce, is more of a bargain than many other places you can buy the brew in the area. The flavor’s good and there’s a clear advantage and with the money you can save annually, there’s a very clear advantage,” he said.
As a way to thank the Houlton area for welcoming them, the Bragdons are planning to host a customer appreciation event on Tuesday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 6, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Anyone who stops by the business during that time and comes in to meet the Bragdons will be treated to a free baked good with any beverage purchase.
“You can choose from a toasted, buttered bagel; donut; or muffin,” said Brenda Bragdon.
“It’s just our way of saying thanks to everyone. I look forward to meeting new faces and making new friends,” said Scottie.
Tim Hortons isn’t just a place to grab a coffee and donut for breakfast. Open 24/7, customers can choose from a wide variety of products to suit just about any taste.
Tim Hortons is the fourth largest publicly-traded quick-service restaurant chain in North America based on market capitalization and the largest in Canada. Tim Hortons appeals to a broad range of consumer tastes, with a menu that includes donuts, premium coffees, flavored cappuccinos, specialty teas, home-style soups, fresh sandwiches and fresh-baked goods.
“We have everything from breakfast sandwiches to donuts and muffins; apples; yogurt; soups; chili and sandwiches. In addition to coffee, we also have our famous Iced Caps, tea, hot chocolate, soda and juices. And we’ve recently added the snack wrappers, providing an affordable lunch or supper alternative,” said Scottie.
As of December 28, 2008, Tim Hortons had 3,437 system-wide restaurants, including 2,917 in Canada and 520 in the United States. More information about the company is available at www.timhortons.com.
