News from the Halfway Home Homeless Cats

To the Editor:
This month’s adoptions included Tommy, Crissy, DeeDee, Sally, Sonny and Amy. Plus we have placed three feral cats in a barn. Also 11 more low-income, elderly and disabled spay/neuter vouchers were redeemed. All of this helps to prevent at least 19 fewer litters this spring. We can only do this because you care enough to help.     Animal overpopulation has always been a huge problem and it gets progressively worse. The only humane way to control overpopulation to keep intensive spay/neuter programs going. We are doing our best.
Halfway Home Homeless Cats provides cat with leukemia testing, all age appropriate shots, clear of any parasites and spayed/neutered before adoption. We do socialization activities to assess the pet’s personality development for the most suitable adoption. As funds are available, we offer fully paid spay/neuter vouchers for low-income, elderly and disabled pet owners.
The next pet food delivery for Caribou is May 21 at about 1 p.m. This program is meant to supplement people having a hard time. The friends of Homeless Cats and the PI Animal Hospital Caribou Clinic encourages you to purchase a few supplies and drop them off to the Herschel Street Clinic on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon. Shop & Save in Caribou also keeps a food cart in the front for you to leave a food donation when you shop.
Please buy raffle tickets for our queen-size Cat Quilt. The Lion’s Share Book Store on Herschel St. has tickets, and the quilt and tickets will be available at Beaulieu’s Garage on South Main St. in Caribou. There are only 48 hours left to the draw date of May 1, 2009. Cynthia Harvey’s handcrafted beautiful kitty quilt in shades of lavender was donated to help the spay/neuter program expenses. Tickets are $1 each or seven for $5.
The Lion’s Share Bookstore carries our logo T-shirts as designed and printed by Dee’s Promotional. Dee donated these T-shirts. The T-shirts are $10 each for adult and $7 for a child.
88 Bennett Drive Redemption continues to turn over your returnable bottle money. These are 3 ways you can help us – whatever you can do is greatly appreciated.
Our next project is the Caribou City-Wide Yard Sale in May. We will have a table at the Valley Woodworking Shop on the Access Highway across from the Crown Park Inn. We need of all types of household items and also for a few good workers to help us with this project.
