The Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum will begin its seventh season with a public supper on Saturday, May 2. The supper will be served from 4:30 in the afternoon until 6 p.m. The menu consists of roast pork and beef pie with homemade rolls and desserts. This delicious meal is $8 per person and The Music Men of Houlton will be providing music during the meal.
Volunteers have been busy replacing windows throughout the building and installing vinyl siding to update the museum. Many projects are under way inside with new items on display in every room. Some rooms have also been freshly painted.
The main museum displays not only agricultural items, but also memorabilia from families dating back to the late 1800s into the 20th century. The Carl and Helen Hagan Barn is full of early equipment that has been saved for future generations to enjoy and the Ross School takes everyone back in time to the more care-free days of years ago.
The spring raffle for a John Deere riding lawnmower is under way with just a few tickets left before the drawing. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by calling  532-7125.
The museum will be open for tours from noon on Saturday through the supper and the first and third Saturdays of each month until summer hours begin on June 6.  Then the museum will offer tours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 each day. Private tours can also be arranged at other times by calling the museum.
If you are interested in volunteering hours that fit your schedule please call 538-9300 or drop by the museum to find out more information.
