Library accepts summer grant

The Cary Library recently benefited from the generosity of the Maine Community Foundation. The library received a grant for $366 from the Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Fund to help support the 2009 summer reading program.
The theme for the children’s reading program is  “Be Creative at Your Library: Explore the Arts”.
This year Cary Library will offer a similar program just for teens called, “Express Yourself at Your Library: Explore the Arts”.
“Both programs will revolve around several types of art found in our local community and through reading. This grant allows us the opportunity to supplement our story collection with the purchase of books covering drama, artists, dance, weaving and storytelling,” said Linda Faucher.
“Many libraries operate with budgets that are stretched to the limit and struggle to provide programs for children. We realize how important it is for the youth of our community to have a venue in order to develop and grow as individuals,” she added.
A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works in partnership with donors and community groups to strengthen Maine. For more information, visit the foundation’s Web site at www.mainecf.org or call toll-free 1-877-700-6800.
