STACYVILLE – Our mother, Mary Anne Guiggey, 70, died May 10, 2009, in Corinth, with her family by her side. She was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Patten, the daughter of Carl and Iva (Kelley) McCourt.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and was recipient of the Bishop's Award. She retired after 30 years as town manager for Stacyville and she enjoyed volunteering for the elderly after retirement; and spending time with her family and friends. Mom will be remembered for her sense of humor, smile and positive outlook on life. She was very proud to be a resident of and working for the Town of Stacyville.
She is survived by four children, Matthew and Debbie Guiggey of Stacyville, Kelley and Steve Curtis of Stacyville, Monica and Steve Bragdon of Glenburn, and Lorri and Layton Day of Corinth; nine loving grandchildren, Nicole, Wesley, Shea, Brock, Brady, Katie, Megan, Taylor and Kayla; one sister, Elizabeth and George Bates of Patten; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn McCourt, Peggy McCourt, Margaret Duffy, Samuel Guiggey, James and Patricia Guiggey, Gary and Beverly Moody, Sylvia and Fred Lilley; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and close friends, Paul Albert and Nora Gardner, whom she thought of as a sister. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ronney; and four brothers, Wallace, John, Kenney and Carl "Bud."
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday with Father Joel Cyr, celebrant. Interment will be at Stacyville Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
