Word has been received that a former resident of Island Falls, Nellie (Pipes) Moody, has passed away.  She was born in Island Falls in 1919, daughter of Bridget Pipes, and graduated from Island Falls High School, class of 1938, and has lived in Vero Beach, Florida for many years, returning several times to visit here in Maine.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter, and nieces Shirley Sides, Sandra Anderson and husband, John, and Mary Pipes.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Webb were Mother’s Day guests of their niece and family, Darlene and Greg Kenny and children, Shawna, Matthew and Trey. They arrived on Saturday and on Mother’s Day the Kenny family served a lobster dinner  which was much enjoyed by everyone, especially Charlene, as they would not let her do any of the cooking in honor of this special day.
On May 15, son Tom and grandson, Chris, arrived early in the morning to do lots of work around my place. Got my vegetable garden all rototilled and ready to plant, carried away all the branches that had blown down during the big wind storm, checked my lawn mower, which is working fine, and cut down several old trees. They plan to return later and do lots more. Always plenty to do around here.
Still have the black cat arriving every morning for his meal of the day. And still have a few birds coming to the feeders — especially the gold finch and purple finch.
Don’t plan to give them much more and will clean all the feeders before fall. Still see an occasional deer grazing in my back yard but won’t take anything out to them as they have plenty to eat now. Hopefully, if they have a young family, I will see them later in the summer with the little ones.
