Houlton golf club lists full slate of activities

The inaugural Men’s Supper of the 2009 year will be held this Thursday evening brought to you by Russell Fitzpatrick and Donald Dunn. The first tournament of the year, the seventh annual Memorial Scramble will be held next Saturday, May 30.   The 18-hole four-person scramble event will kick off with a breakfast cooked by President David Grant and crew at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. sharp.  This year includes two divisions: Those foursomes who wish to play a nine-hole match will be in Division A and those who wish to play 18 holes in Division B.  Space is still available, call  (532-2662) or stop by the clubhouse today to sign up.
Also Friday evening, May 29, we will be hosting a prime rib and stuffed haddock dinner, cooked by Joe Bergan and his crew. Members and guests are invited to attend, with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. please make your reservations by Wednesday, May 27 so we have enough food for everyone. Call the clubhouse with your reservation and choice. Cost of the dinner is $15 per person.
Men’s Twilight League play begins Monday, June 8.  The format and rules for this year are identical to last year. A schedule will be posted on the bulletin board June 5. There is room for only four more teams, so if you are considering playing, please call the clubhouse immediately. We are looking for teams that can tee off between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Also coming up is the first evening of Couples League, which will begin Friday, June 12.
The 10th annual June Jamboree, a Member/Member – Member/Guest Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 7:30 a.m.  The format again this year is nine holes of two-person scramble and nine-holes of best ball. This popular all-net event is a fun competition, so sign up now. Also coming up Friday, July 3, is the annual Houlton High School Alumni Scramble. Get your four-person team together and be ready for this nine-hole golf treat at 9 a.m.  You do not have to be a HHS alumnus to play. If you don’t have a team, sign up anyway, and we will put you with a group.
June will be a busy month for golf with the good weather on its way, and vacation time. We have lots of events going on at the course throughout each week, but every day there is time for general play. So feel free to call the pro shop to find out what is going on, and make tee times for any day.
Listed below is the daily golf schedule: Open for general play 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for the set schedule of events. Carts available until 6 p.m. and must be returned by 7:30 p.m.
Mondays: Junior Golf at range and on course, 8-11 a.m., beginning on June 30. Course is open for general play, but be respectful of our future members. Let them play at a leisurely pace; Men’s Twilight League, course closed from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays:  Ladies Day, 9-10 a.m.; Ladies Twilight League, 4:30-6 p.m. The first and 10th tee are closed during these above times.  The course is open for general play except the above, but be respectful of ladies’ play and do not expect to play through ladies’ groups ahead of you.
Thursdays: Men’s Day and supper, 3-7 p.m., members only, please form foursomes.
Fridays:  Blitz, 12:30-1:15 p.m., off first tee. Course is open for general play; Couples League, 5-7:30 p.m. Course closed during this time.
