Performers and food vendors wanted for upcoming Main St. event
PRESQUE ISLE – Calling all street performers and food vendors! Planning for Street Fair 2009 is under way and organizers are encouraging those who would like to set up food stalls, sell their wares or offer sidewalk performances to sign-up as soon as possible. Last year’s wildly-successful event drew hundreds of people to Main Street for Artists on the Walk, a special matinee showing at the Braden Theatre, an international food contest, arts and crafts displays and a street dance.

Street Fair 2009, held in conjunction with the Crown of Maine Balloon Festival, is hosted by the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce and the Presque Isle Downtown Revitalization Committee. This year’s Crown of Maine Balloon Festival will take place from Aug. 27-30 and Street Fair 2009 will take over Presque Isle’s Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 10 p.m.
That’s right – vendors, displays and performers will get to set up right on Presque Isle’s main thoroughfare, which will be closed to traffic between Academy and State streets during the event.
Organizers are looking for artisans, crafters, musicians, buskers, living statues — all kinds of street vendors and performers who can help to make Street Fair 2009 an event to remember.
For more information about how you can participate in Street Fair 2009, please contact the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce at 764-6561 or contact Planning Committee member Mary Lawrence at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Conferences and Special Programs at 768-9502 or mary.l.lawrence@umpi.edu.
Remember also, this year’s event is extra special, since it’s the city’s Sesquicentennial. So consider being a part of the fun and make history in the process.
