The real reason for Republican loss

To the editor:
    Regarding Maine State Republican Committee member Steve Martin’s letter from May 13, 2009.
    Mr. Martin suggests that the reason “Republicans keep losing elections” is because the Maine GOP has been infiltrated by “closet Democrats”, including Sens. Snowe and Collins. As a registered Republican, I would suggest that the main reason for any recent Republican election loss is that the GOP is pandering to AM radio “conservatives” like Martin, and dismissing those with differing opinions as less than “real Republicans”.
