UMPI hosts tennis singles tournament

    In Presque Isle on Saturday, the Eastern Maine Class B Region 1 Tennis Singles Tournament was held at UMPI. The girls final matches included: Jenna Selander def. Haley Lizotte; Laura Collins def. Kailee Ireland; Sarah Porter def. Audrey Bergeron; Ina Tessnow-vonWysocki def. Carlee Pinette; Brittany Bearden def. Susan Lavertu. The boys final matches included: Shane Belanger def. Caleb Mathers; Taylor Jepson def. Ashir Aboulelsh; Nathan Beaulieu def. Ben Picard; Alex Carter def. Nathan Lapointe.

    Presque Isle and Caribou met up on May 12 for a Viking home advantage tennis meet.
    The Presque Isle boys defeated Caribou 3-2. Singles: S. Belanger def. Alex Carter 8-4; Jepson def. Picard 8-1; Mathers def. Willey 8-1. Doubles: Chris Cawley-Kyle Gilson def. Smith-Duplisse-Cyr 8-3; Mike Picard-Connor Shaw def. Coty-Belanger 8-4.
    The Caribou girls defeated Presque Isle 3-2. Singles: Selander def. Porter 8-3; Bearden def. Collins 9-8; Pinette def. Ireland 8-5. Doubles: Barbosa-Nadeau def. Jen Steeves-Madelyn Carson 9-8; Lindsay Michaud-Divya Bisht def. Johnson-Keaton 8-4. The Lady Wildcats’ record is now 5-2 and they are seeded fourth and the Wildcat boys tennis team has a 7-0 record with a fourth place heal point standing as of May 12.
