Five area soldiers receive Honor Guard Badge

    Five Maine Army National Guard soldiers from the Houlton area have been awarded the Honor Guard Badge for service in the Maine Military Honors Program. This program was established in 2003 to support the great need to honor Maine’s passing veterans. To date, the team has performed over 3,750 military funeral honors ceremonies.
    Specialist Aaron Brown of Houlton has performed 208 military funeral honors for Maine veterans.
    Brown is a graduate of Houlton High School. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq with Security Force II in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Brown is also a member of the 488th Military Police Company, Maine Army National Guard in Houlton.
    Brown lives in Houlton with his fiancée Malinda.
    Staff Sergeant David Carpenter of Littleton has performed 302 military funeral honors for Maine veterans.
    Carpenter is a graduate of Hodgdon High School. He has served in the military for 12 years and is a Squad Leader for the 262nd Engineer Company, Maine Army National Guard in Belfast.
    Carpenter lives in Littleton with his wife Kimberly.
    Sergeant First Class Harold Maker of Houlton has performed 134 military funeral honors for Maine veterans.
    Maker is a graduate of Hodgdon High School. In 2008, he deployed to Afghanistan as member of the Embedded Training Team. He is also a member of the 185th Engineer Support Company, Maine Army National Guard in Caribou.
    Maker lives in Houlton with his wife Heather.
    Specialist Michael Quint  has performed 200 military funeral honors for Maine veterans.
    Quint is a graduate of Hodgdon High School. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq with Alpha Battery of the 1/152 Field Artillery in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now a member of the 185th Engineer Support Company, Maine Army National Guard in Caribou.
    Michael Quint lives in Linneus with his fiancée Amy.
    Sergeant Nicholas Quint of Hodgdon has performed 298 military funeral honors for Maine veterans. Quint is a graduate of Hodgdon High School. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq with Alpha Battery of the 1/152 Field Artillery in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now a member of the 262nd Engineer Company, Maine Army National Guard in Westbrook.
