MACWAHOC – Edith Annette Wilson, 85, died June 9, 2009, at Colonial Healthcare, Lincoln, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Macwahoc, the daughter of Tyra (Smith) and Carroll Joy.
She loved camping, fishing, and hunting the Maine woods, and riding the roads less traveled. Always ready for a road trip, she spent years in Tucson, Ariz., and other locales until returning home to Macwahoc, where she lived until her last year at Colonial Healthcare.
She is survived by her son, Jesse Wilson and daughter-in-law, Kathy Vose Wilson; baby sister, Jillian Oliver; brothers, Henry, Jerry, Frank and David Joy; several special nieces and nephews and their families; four grandchildren, Veronica, Annette, Robert and Julie; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Wilson; daughter, Linda Marie Dyer; son, George E. Wilson Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth, Doris and Sally; and brothers, John, James, Herbert and Fred. Her family would like to thank everyone at Colonial Healthcare from the bottom of our hearts for the exceptional loving care and compassion shown to Edie and her family during her time there, especially all her very special folks on the Assisted Living wing.
A gathering of friends and family was held 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
