Former Hodgdon student, Amanda Davis, daughter of Glenn and Cheryl Williams of Amity has been named the 2009 Valedictorian of Averill High School in Hinkley. Her graduation took place on June 7.
Davis received a certificate of excellence in English and Science. She was named outstanding female high school student in both her junior and senior year. Davis was Student of the Month in September and and April. She received $150 in savings bonds for the selection and was presented an award for sweetest personality and for her talent in creative art. Davis also received the Roundel Award at Last Chapel and a $1,000 scholarship at graduation.
Davis was chosen to attend a Celtics game based on her academics and overall achievements. In addition to this trip she also won a trip to Fenway Park, including a tour of Boston and a ride on the Duck Boats.
Davis was selected as the Prom Queen at her senior prom in May.
She was president of her senior class and was selected to speak at the State Legislature in Augusta. Her topic was the state’s school budget cuts.
Davis is compiling a digital yearbook for her class, the first of its kind for the school.
Following graduation, she will work in the health-care field.
