The Annual Torch Run

    THE ANNUAL Torch Run for Special Olympics found runners making their way to downtown Presque Isle June 4. Stopping to visit with a group of athletes before continuing on their trek, with the torch destined for the Orono games later in the week. Participating in this year’s event included: Zachery Barnes, Presque Isle High School; Jeff Ashby, attorney, Pine Tree Legal; Chris Hayes, Presque Isle Police Department; Shawn Whalen, Maine State Police, and his K-9, Bailey; Dan Menard, Maine Warden Service; Robert Gross, Maine Forest Service; Wayne Selfridge, PIPD; Jared Drake, Border Patrol; Stephen Grady, Border Patrol; Fred Parsons, Presque Isle Fire Department; Robert Losieniecki, Border Patrol; Alan Dudley, Maine Warden Service; Scott Marquis, Customs and Border Protection; Shawn Newell, PIPD; and Jocelyn Marquis, PIPD. To help raise funds for Special Olympics, Maine law enforcement staff will be pumping gas and washing windows at your local Irving/Circle K facilities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, hoping to collect tips to support Maine Special Olympics. Irving Oil will also donate 5 cents per gallon of gas sold on June 20-21.
