Cheryl Sandquist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Varney and her daughter, Beth have returned home to Texas after spending a week here in Island Falls. They also visited with other relatives in the area.

Arriving from Rancho Cordova, Calif. Marion and Don Burton are now staying at their cottage on Upper Mattawamkeag Lake for the summer, Former residents of the area, they always look forward to their summers in Island Falls and renewing acquaintances and watching the loons on the lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Delong, former residents of Island Falls, have arrived from Brooksville, Fla. and are staying at Pleasant Pond for a few weeks. They are hoping the weather will cooperate so that they can enjoy visiting with relatives and friends in the area.
I am having a hard time, as is everyone else, getting the lawns mowed between rain showers. Whenever it looks good, we all dash out and mow as fast as we can so that our lawns won’t look like hayfields. Never the less, my tomato plants are flourishing, with blossoms coming fast and my potato plants look healthy, but no blossoms spotted yet.
The hummingbirds are busy eating the syrup I put out for them, plus using all my flowers, too, I imagine. My bee balm hasn’t yet blossomed, but is about to, they love that.
The black cat is still around and I see him down back now and then, no doubt on a hunting trip for a mouse or mole. He still eats up the food left for him on the porch, though. No deer sightings for quite awhile. I keep looking though.
