Game offers major-league prize
The American Library Association Step Up to the Plate @ Your Library Program is now being offered. It is a program designed for age groups 10 under, 11-13 and 14-17. You can find the program online at www.ala.org/baseball. Players are encouraged to play the game through the online version or download the playbooks.  Players are encouraged to use the library’s print and electronic resources and seek the assistance from the “ultimate search engine,” their librarian, to find answers. Entries must be submitted online Sept.1, 2009 or by mail and postmarked no later than Sept. 1, 2009 and received by Sept. 14, 2009. The grand-prize winner  will receive a round-trip for two to Cooperstown, N.Y., double-occupancy, admission to the Hall of Fame, and other events as well. FMI, contact Sue McPherson, Turner Memorial Library, Presque Isle, 764-2571.
Cardholders gain museum access
A Discovery Museum pass is available to families with a valid Turner Memorial Library card. The library has purchased a pass and made it available for the year 2009. The pass must be picked up prior to visiting the discovery museum in Bangor. Eligibility is for four persons and one must be a child with a patron ID card. The pass must be signed by an authorized library signature — Sue McPherson or Sonja Plummer Morgan — and is good for one free visit. Call for further details, 764-2571.
