Image    Kevin Given, 47, of Torrance, Calif. was born in Houlton. His parents are Yvonne Given Hastey and the late Joe Given. He attended Houlton schools furthering his education at both the University of Maine, Presque Isle and Orono campuses, majoring in speech communication.
Given graduated from the New England School of Communications and worked for several radio stations including WHOU. Since leaving Maine, Given produced and hosted the radio program “Legend of Rock” which was heard worldwide on the Web through KCLA.com radio.
Struggling with weight all of his life, he decided to write a book about his experiences hoping to help others in the same situation. His book describes many fad diets he tried, only to gain the weight back and more. After 20 years, he found the answer with the help of a personal trainer and wrote this book, called “Lose Weight, Feel Great,” outlining the process.
Given, weighing 265 pounds at one time successfully brought his weight down to 190 pounds and kept it off. He decreased his pant size from a 42 waist to a size 36.
Given is not only an author, but has become a personal trainer helping others look and feel better. His book is available through major bookstores and on Amazon.com.
Given has also authored an additional book called, “Absent Friends: Paul Newman” that chronicles the film careers of cinema giants that have passed away.
