Pam Baker of Bangor is seeking donations to provide a minimum of 300 soft, cuddly, plush bears to military kids, as a means of providing comfort while their loved one is deployed for active duty.
Baker is working with the Maine National Guard Family Program to ensure that the bears reach the intended recipients.
Michelle Darveau, Family Rediness Assistant said “The stuffed animals donated last year made a huge difference in the lives of our military kids. It gave them something to hold on to and provided immediate comfort to them during the send-off event; watching their loved ones leave for their 12 months mission overseas”.
The bears are $14.99 each. They are placed in individual gift bags with the donor’s name listed on the tag. Bears may be purchased individually, or a specific amount may be donated towards the purchase of bears. All donations are welcome and are tax deductible. You may send checks payable to Pam Baker, 27 Wiley St., Bangor, ME 04401.

WITH THANKS — Salvation Army Captain Steve Pearl accepts a donation from Leslie Nesin, priest at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Houlton. Earlier in the spring, the church hosted their annual Fiddlehead Supper and 10 percent of the proceeds were earmarked for the Salvation Army. Pearl will use these funds to support those in need.
