To the editor:
Happy Birthday. Caribou! It’s already been a great celebration of our community’s history of accomplishment, resilience, and spirit. Now we’re ready to kick into high gear! The Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Aroostook Republican are hosting a Birthday Tie-Die Extravaganza on Thursday, Aug. 6th, at the CCC&I. Come create your own souvenir and enjoy some great games! Caribou has always “cared about kids”, and this event is just the latest way to show it!
The Recreation Department is hosting a “Blast from the Past” on Friday, Aug. 14th. Come relive some of those golden memories!
You’ve probably seen the signs by now for the Celebration Ball on Saturday, Aug. 22nd; tickets are limited, so get yours early! It’s a great, semi-formal way to commemorate all of Caribou’s “parties of yesteryear”.
Remember to get your copy of our historical book, as well as your official events book. Both are available at locations throughout the city. Don’t forget our Web site, www.celebratecaribou.com.
Get a fact-filled map and check out an Ipod at the library to guide you on the Walking Tour of some of Caribou’s heritage sites. And join us today, Aug. 5th at 4 p.m. at the library as we finalize plans for the parade, fireworks, barbeque, open houses, fiddle concert, historical pageant, and more … the events keep coming!
Hope to see you at a meeting or at the Presque Isle parade on Saturday, August 15th. We’ll be helping our neighbors celebrate their sesquicentennial as well . Be part of the fun!
