To the editor:
Recently, a retired member of the U.S. Immigration Service passed away. The absence of uniformed and management-level personnel at her funeral was very conspicuous. Had she been a member of our Armed Forces, Police Department, Fire Department or Game Warden Service, I am sure uniforms would be present.
I understand a lot of time and money was recently spent to train Honor Guard members for just such an occasion. Where were they? I'm not blaming them; they have to be told to go.
Has the War on Terrorism made you so insensitive that you couldn't give her an hour of your time? She gave you 37 years.
