PRESQUE ISLE — Madawaska, representing the north division of the Aroostook County 13-16 baseball league, captured the county tournament title Aug. 1 in games played at the pool diamond. In the championship, Madawaska upended Woodland, also from the northern division, by a 13-5 final.
Jonathan Lee went 4 for 4 and scored three runs to lead the winning offense. Wetmore added two hits and also scored three times as Madawaska pounded out 16 hits in the game.
Levi Bither went 3 for 3 with a run scored for Woodland. Cody Thibodeau started on the mound and took the pitching loss.
Woodland had defeated Rod Brewer Design in the other semifinal earlier in the day, 7-6 in eight innings.
Woodland trailed by five runs before tying the game in the fifth to force extra innings.
