WASHBURN and CASSELBERRY, FL – Carroll E. Bouchey, 80, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009, at a Mars Hill health-care facility. He was born on February 3, 1929, in Washburn, the son of Henry and Beatrice (Drost) Bouchey.
Carroll grew up in the Washburn area, and worked for twenty-seven years for A.E. Flewelling as a supervisor. Carroll loved to build things and was noted for his seven-foot lighthouse replicas which one can still be seen at his son Henry’s. He enjoyed playing the guitar, harmonica, camping, and digging for clams and eating lobster when he was on the coast. He was a member of the Caribou Pentecostal, Washburn Pentecostal, and Dunntown Advent Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Viola (Philbrook) Bouchey of Casselberry, FL; five children: Carolyn Nadeau and her husband Joe of Washburn, Donna Tilley of Fort Fairfield, Carl Bouchey and his wife Pamela of Washburn, Rodney Bouchey and his wife Martha of Woodland, Henry Bouchey and his wife Tina of Fort Fairfield; an adopted daughter, Karen Raya and her husband John of Oviedo, FL; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and a sister Pauline Gregg of Winterpark, FL. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Milford Bouchey and a sister Florence Carter.
A celebration of Carroll’s life was conducted 2 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Dunntown Advent Christian Church with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Friends called from 1 p.m. until time of service. Following the celebration there was a time of refreshment in the church fellowship hall.
