City invites county to celebrate

To the editor:
There will be lots to do over the next two weeks to celebrate Caribou’s sesquicentennial, and we invite folks from the entire County to join us in the fun. Plan to attend one or more of the following events:     First, the National Weather Service is holding a free open house on Saturday, August 29th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to see how “the weather is made” and how forecasting has changed over the last 75 years.
Next, the House Tour and Tea takes place on August 29th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., showcasing a variety of architectural styles in some of Caribou’s “old homes and churches” Tickets are available in advance at Cary Medical Center or the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Finally, you don’t want to miss the Historical Pageant Play at Caribou Performing Arts Center on August 29th at 7:30 p.m. and on August 30th at 3 p.m. This “extravaganza” written by local author Phil Turner tells the story of “the County town” in a lighthearted way. Tickets are only $5 and include “birthday refreshments” after the show. Tickets are available at Sleepers, the Chamber, or at the door.
So take time to “sesquicelebrate” Caribou this week, and check out our Web site, www.celebratecaribou.com or call the Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 493-4233 for a full list of upcoming events!
