Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan confirmed that on Aug. 25, the department received a call at 1:30 p.m. regarding a bomb threat at the Caribou High School. According to Chief Gahagan three police units responded to the call as well as fire department personnel all who were at the scene until 2:30 p.m. During that period of time, the school was searched, with no explosive devices uncovered. Chief Gahagan commented that as a result of the emergency routine which is followed by school administration and staff in a situation such as a bomb threat, a large part of the search is done immediately by those within the building. “They know what they have to do,” said Chief Gahagan, “and they get it done.”
Chief Gahagan confirmed that as a result of the surveillance cameras at the Caribou High School, police were able to ascertain the identity of a suspect and following further investigation charged a male juvenile student with the felony crime of terrorizing and making a false report.
