The regular season is now a fond memory for boys and girls soccer teams and several Aroostook County squads appear to be playoff bound. The final countable day for boys and girls soccer was Tuesday (yesterday), with the preliminary playoffs set to begin Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24. The final standings could change, as they will not be released until after Tuesday’s final games.     The Presque Isle, Ashland and Central Aroostook boys and girls squads, as well as the Easton and Fort Fairfield girls squads, will qualify for the postseason.

In Eastern Class B, Presque Isle (13-0, 144.5153) should finish as the No. 1 seed. The Wildcats were second as of Tuesday morning, just 2.449 points behind Winslow (14-0, 146.9643). Presque Isle ended its regular season Tuesday against Fort Kent. If the Wildcats finish as the No. 1 seed, they would face the winner of the No. 8 (John Bapst, 9-5) versus No. 9 Nokomis (8-5-1) on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The Wildcats beat John Bapst 3-2 and 2-0 in their two meetings during the season, but did no play Nokomis.
In Eastern Class D, Ashland (12-2, 66.2245) is ranked second; Easton (9-4-1, 43.6132) is fifth; Central Aroostook (4-8-2, 40.3189) is seventh; Fort Fairfield (7-6-1, 39.6301) is eighth; and Washburn (2-8-4, 25.6505) is 11th. Washburn will not make the playoffs this year.
If Ashland stays in the second seed, the Hornets will face No. 7 Central Aroostook on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the quarterfinals. Ashland beat CAHS 3-1 in its only meeting on the season.
If Easton stays fifth, the Bears will travel to No. 4 Bangor Christian (7-6-1) Oct. 28.    If Fort Fairfield stays eight, the Tigers will face No. 1 Southern Aroostook (14-0) on Oct. 28.

In Eastern Class B, Presque Isle (12-0-2, 132.6148 points) will likely finish as the No. 2 seed. As of Tuesday morning, the Wildcats were first, narrowly ahead of Ellsworth (12-0-1, 129.2857), but the Eagles had one game remaining against Mount Desert Island  Tuesday afternoon. With a win, Ellsworth should leap frog past Presque Isle for the No. 1 seed. If the Wildcats finish second in the region, they would host No. 7 Winslow (6-7-1, 57.1429 points) out of the KVAC in the quarterfinals Wednesday, Oct. 28.
In Eastern Class D, Ashland (11-3, 83.2908 points) is ranked second, while Central Aroostook (11-3, 77.8061) is fourth; Easton (5-9, 23.2839) is 13th; Fort Fairfield (4-9-1, 20.9184) is 15th; and Washburn (3-10-1, 19.5791) is 16th.
If the standings hold, only Ashland and Central Aroostook will be playoff bound. If the Hornets stay as the No. 2 seed, they would host the winner of the No. 7 seed (Wisdom, 10-4) versus No. 10 seed (Jonesport-Beals, 7-6) on Wednesday Oct. 28. Ashland did not play Jonesport-Beals, but split with Wisdom, losing 2-1 and winning 5-3.
If CAHS holds as the No. 4 seed, the Panthers would host No. 5 Machias (9-4-1), also on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the quarterfinals. The Panthers did not play Machias during the regular season.
