Porter recipient of Beaudry Award

    Sarah Porter, a 2009 Presque Isle High School graduate and recipient of the Maine Sports Legends scholarship, added another $1,000 scholarship as the winner of the Beaudry Award. The presentation was made at the Oct. 11 Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors banquet by Hofstra University men’s basketball coach Tom Pecora, who provides funds in the name of James Beaudry and his wife, Maryann. Jim Beaudry was one of the founding members of the Maine Sports Legends.  Receiving the $1,000 scholarship as the male winner was Jesse Stephens, a 2009 graduate of Caribou High School.
    Porter and Stephens were up for the Beaudry award along with the six other scholar/athlete winners from throughout the state.
