AUGUSTA — Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap has announced that six new commemorative decals are now available to qualified veterans displaying veteran registration plates. The six new decals include the Army Combat Infantry Badge; the Army Combat Medic Badge; the Army Combat Action Badge; the Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon; the Navy Combat Action Ribbon; and the Air Force Combat Action Medal.     “The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is proud to offer these additional commemorative decals in honor of  Maine veterans for their valiant service to our country,” Dunlap stated.
The decals are available at any motor vehicle branch office for a fee of $2 per set. To be eligible for the decal, the veteran must have been awarded the specified medal, badge, or ribbon and either have been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces, or have served honorably for three years and re-enlisted.
The six new decals were authorized as a result of legislation sponsored by Rep. Kenneth Fletcher of Winslow. The commemorative decals may be displayed on special veteran registration plates and disabled veteran registration plates only. A total of 32 different veteran award decals are now available to qualified veterans.
Decals can be viewed on the Bureau Website  at: http://www.maine.gov/sos/bms/registration/decals.htm.
Faded decals may be replaced by visiting a motor vehicle branch office or by e-mailing a request to: registrations@maine.gov.
