PRESQUE ISLE — All Aroostook County residents are invited to an informative evening at the Aroostook County Extension Association Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held Thursday evening, Nov. 19 in Presque Isle. The business meeting will be preceded by a social time at 5:30 p.m. and a dinner will be served around 6 p.m. Reservations are required. Cooperative Extension program highlights will feature food preservation methods for today as well as local 4H programming efforts. There will be a report from the VISTA workers on the “Power of the Wind” program. Also the Aroostook Junior Emergency Preparers 4-H Club will share their award-winning poster showcasing their work with ArcMap and emergency planning.
In other business, the Extension Association Annual report will be presented, a new slate of directors will be elected, the Robert E. Evans Citizenship Award, the Friends of Extension Awards, and the Extension Service Awards will be presented. Also on the agenda are changing the by-laws. Article V – Membership: adding “disability” to the list of demographics included in the Association membership. We need to change “geographical” to “Extension Office Area” in Article VI – Officers and Article VIII – Duties of Officers and Committees. We need to change Article VII – Executive Committee Section 1 to reflect the changes in the membership needed. Another change needs to be made to Article VII Section 2 – Term of Office, delete Article VIII Section 5 #4, and change the annual meeting to the third week in November which is Article X Section 1.
Membership in the Aroostook County Extension Association is open to all citizens of Aroostook County and all County residents may vote at the Annual meeting.
