The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence.
“The Award for Business Excellence represents the innovative spirit that has earned Maine a reputation for top quality workmanship, service and a commitment to excellence,” DECD Acting Commissioner Thaxter Trafton said. “As always, we encourage Maine businesses of all sizes to apply.”
Trafton explained the nature of the prestigious award and its meaning for Maine businesses. “The award is presented by the Governor each spring. It recognizes and honors Maine businesses for their commitment to the bottom line, for manufacturing or customer service, and for dedication to their employees and community,” said Trafton.
Companies may be nominated or they may nominate themselves, and small businesses are strongly encouraged to apply. Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Dora Dostie at 207-624-9807, e-mail at dora.m.dostie@maine.gov or by writing her at DECD, 59 State House Station, Cross Office Building, 3rd Floor, Augusta, ME 04333. DECD is proud to administer the excellence awards and works with a selection committee comprised of former award winners and business people. Winners of the 2010 award will be recognized during ceremonies at the Colby College Institute for Leadership next April. Questions concerning the nomination process should also be directed to Ms. Dostie. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, Dec. 31.
