Preseason basketball and hockey tourneys scheduled

Fans of high school athletics have an opportunity to get an early look at their teams as pre-season tournaments are prevalent over the next week.
In basketball, the Tip-Off Classic will be held both at Presque Isle High School and Caribou High School Friday and Saturday.
The Carleton North girls will take on Presque Isle Friday at 6 p.m. at PIHS, with the Morse Shipbuilders of Bath squaring off against the Wildcat boys at 7:30 p.m., also at PIHS.
In Caribou that evening, the Waterville girls and boys will meet up against the Viking teams. The girls game is at 6 p.m., followed by the boys matchup at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday afternoon, the PI teams host Waterville, with the girls game taking place at 11 a.m. and the boys game at 12:30 p.m. At Caribou High School, the Carleton North girls play Caribou at 11 a.m., with the Morse boys tipping off against the Vikes at 12:30 p.m.
The Boys Preseason Basketball Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Washburn District High School. The matchups Friday are Easton against Ashland at 5:30 p.m. and Washburn against Central Aroostook at 7 p.m.
In Saturday’s games, Central Aroostook plays Easton at 5:30 p.m., followed by Ashland against Washburn at 7 p.m. An all-star team will be chosen by the coaches and an all-star committee, and awards will be presented at halftime of the 7 p.m. game on Saturday.
The Girls Preseason Basketball Tournament will take place at Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, Ashland and Madawaska will meet at 5:30 p.m., followed by Central Aroostook squaring  off against Washburn at 7 p.m. Tuesday’s schedule has Washburn and Ashland doing battle at 5:30 p.m., with Madawaska and CA playing the nightcap at 7 p.m.
An all-tournament team will be selected by a vote of the coaches and staff, with awards presented at halftime of the Madawaska-CA game Tuesday night.
Presque Isle will participate in the Holiday Face Off Hockey Tournament Nov. 27 and 28 at the Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer. John Bapst will serve as the tourney hosts, with Old Town, Hampden and Houlton-Hodgdon also taking part. Friday’s action runs from 1:50-8:30 p.m. and Saturday’s games are from 9:20 a.m.-6 p.m.
