PRESQUE ISLE – Donald B. Archer, 82, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at a Caribou hospital. He was born July 8, 1927, in Presque Isle, the son of Bertram and Mable (Brymer) Archer.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Navy and then as a United States Marine. He worked for many years in civil service as a heavy equipment operator. Donald also loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Grant Memorial Methodist Church in Presque Isle.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Phyllis (Ireland) Archer of Presque Isle; five sons: Kim and his wife Debbie of Presque Isle, Scott Archer of Presque Isle, Bruce and his wife Theresa of Benson, NC, Brent Archer of Presque Isle, Shawn Archer and his wife Trisha of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Lori Cote and her husband Phil of Mapleton; three sisters: Claira Robinson of White City, KA, Shirley Johnson of South Carolina, Anne Tompkins of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Donnie, Kara, Travis, Lance, Jody, Krissy, Jessie, Thomas, Greg, Nicole, Savannah, Lucas, Spencer, Sophie and a special granddaughter, Heather; great- grandchildren, Marissa, Landon, Brandon, Morgan, Dakota, Libby, Braedon, Matthew, Lucy, Hannah, and Haleigh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Donald; four brothers: Freeman, Wallace, Merritt, and Merle; as well as two infant sisters.
