Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou. GUERRETTE & CARIBOU – Percy J. Rossignol, 88, passed away, Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. Percy was born August 15, 1921, in Van Buren, the son of Alfred and Modeste (Cyr) Rossignol. He leaves behind his loving wife of more than 63 years, Rosalie (Dionne). Percy served as an Army medic in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany during World War II. Following the war, Percy and Rose were married on August 6, 1946. They made their home in Guerrette and raised their seven children there. Percy was hardworking; he farmed for many years and spent many years in the construction field. Even after retirement, he worked during harvest. Percy enjoyed the outdoors, particularly gardening, fishing and picking fiddleheads.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; three sons, Emilio and his wife, Charleen of Medway, Alfred of Richmond, VA, and Sam and his wife, Carrie of Hughes Ranch, Colorado; three daughters, Laurina of Newington, CT, Dori and her husband, Stan Janiack of New Britain, CT, and Joan and her husband, David Martin of Caribou. Percy is also survived by his grandchildren, Steve Michaud and his wife, Traci of West Hartford, CT, Mark Martin and his wife, Sara of Auburn, Aimee Martin, Renee Martin and Jenna Rossignol, all of New Britain, CT, Stacy Rossignol of Newington, CT, Michelle Bouchard and her husband, Kevin of Falmouth, Chris Martin and his wife, Mona of Caribou, Michael Rossignol and his wife, Cortney of Augusta, Jason Rossignol of Richmond, VA, Shawna Rossignol, Ashley Rossignol and Jennifer Rossignol all of Hughes Ranch, CO, and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Rose Martin, a granddaughter Dawn Marie Rossignol and a grandson Scott Allen Martin.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Holy Rosary Church in Caribou with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. Following the service there was a time of refreshments in the church fellowship hall. Committal services will take place in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou.
