SACS to host junior high hoop tourney

    The 37th annual Southern Aroostook Community Junior High School Invitational Basketball Tournament will be held Feb. 8-10 in Dyer Brook.
    Teams competing and in their finishing order are: Girls, first, Houlton (12-4); second, Southern Aroostook (10-1); third, Hodgdon (8-6); fourth, Katahdin (5-7) and fifth, Greater Houlton Christian Academy (3-10). In the boys’ division, first Houlton (16-0); second, Southern Aroostook (10-1); third, Hodgdon (8-6); fourth, Greater Houlton Christian Academy (6-8) and fifth, Katahdin (1-11).
    The schedule is as follows:
    Monday, Feb. 8: Girls, Hodgdon vs. Katahdin, 3:30 p.m.; Southern Aroostook vs. GHCA, 4:45 p .m. and boys, Hodgdon vs. GHCA, 6 p.m.
   Tuesday, Feb. 9: Boys, Southern Aroostook vs. Katahdin, * 3:30 p.m.; Houlton vs. winner of Hodgdon/GHCA boys, 4:45 p.m. and girls, Houlton vs. Hodgdon/Katahdin, 6 p.m.
    Wednesday, Feb. 10: * Girls championship game, 3 p.m., followed by Boys championship game at 4:15 p.m.
    Noted by an asterisk, starting times could be earlier pending high school basketball playoff schedules.
    There will be awards presented on Wednesday evening following the boys’ championship game. Please have representatives of teams available, as Most Valuable Player (MVP) and all-star selections will be determined at this time. There will also be runner-up and championship trophies presented to finalist teams.
