MARS HILL — Sub-zero temperatures greeted skiers at the Big Rock Ski Area Saturday for an Alpine ski meet. The meet was delayed for one hour due to the extremely cold wind-chill.

Nathan Rossignol of the Caribou Alpine ski team makes his way down the hill at Bigrock Saturday during the high school meet. Central Aroostook won the boys Slalom and Giant Slalom events, while Caribou won the girls Giant Slalom. Boys Slalom team scores, were: 1, CAHS, 18; 2, Fort Kent, 22; 3, Caribou, 53; and 4, Presque Isle, 73.
Boys Giant Slalom team scores were: 1, CAHS, 19, 2, Fort Kent, 30; 3, Caribou, 52; 4, Presque Isle, 68. Girls Giant Slalom team scores were: 1, Caribou, 16; and 2, Fort Kent, 29. The girls Slalom team scores were: 1, Fort Kent, 20; 2, Caribou, 22. Presque Isle did not have enough skiers to compete as a team.
The individual boys Slalom results for Viking skiers, with the first place overall finisher included, were: 10, Ethan McDuffie, C, 39.03 (first run), 39.75 (second run) and 1:18.78 (combined); 12, Tim Freme, 40.35, 39.64 and 1:19.99; 14, Nathan Rossignol, 41.75, 41.18 and 1:22.93; 17, Dylan Ouellette, 43.43, 43.41 and 1:26.84; 19, Ben Blackstone, 45.17, 43.42 and 1:28.59; 22, Ethan Stetson, 48.28, 48.37 and 1:36.65; 24, Nolan McDuffie, 48.82, 48.63 and 1:37.45; 28,Matt Lulofs, 55.34, 53.56 and 1:48.90; and 30, Sean Barbosa, 1:46.11; 47.91 and 2:34.02.
