Panther boys set pace in Alpine meet at Bigrock

MARS HILL — Sub-zero temperatures greeted skiers at the Bigrock Ski Area Saturday for an Alpine ski meet. The meet was delayed for one hour due to the extremely cold wind-chill.
Central Aroostook won the boys Slalom and Giant Slalom events, while Caribou won the girls Giant Slalom. Boys Slalom team scores, were: 1, CAHS, 18; 2, Fort Kent, 22; 3, Caribou, 53; and 4, Presque Isle, 73. Boys Giant Slalom team scores were: 1, CAHS, 19, 2, Fort Kent, 30; 3, Caribou, 52; 4, Presque Isle, 68.
Girls Giant Slalom team scores were: 1, Caribou, 16; and 2, Fort Kent, 29. The girls Slalom team scores were: 1, Fort Kent, 20; 2, Caribou, 22. Presque Isle did not have enough skiers to compete as a team.
The individual boys Slalom results for local skiers, with the first place overall finisher included, were: 1, Jesse Guimond, FK, 35.15 (first run), 35.01 (second run), 1:10.16 (combined); 2, Shane Miller, CA, 36.97, 35.28 and 1:12.25; 3, Caleb Jewett, CA, 36.58, 36.34 and 1:12.92; 4, Logan Brewer, CA, 37.27, 37.35 and 1:14.62; 5, Adam Curtis, PI, 38.06, 36.80 and 1:14.86; 9, Ethan Stiles, CA, 38.71, 39.12 and 1:17.83.
The individual boys Giant Slalom results were: 1, Miller, CA, 40.16, 40.03 and 1:20.19; 3, Jewett, CA, 40.98, 41.52 and 1:22.50; 5, Curtis, PI, 42.78, 41.84 and 1:24.62; 7, Cook, CA, 43.03, 43.51 and 1:26.54; 8, J. Stiles, CA, 44.05, 42.69, and 1:26.74; 9, E. Stiles, CA, 43.97, 43.52 and 1:27.49.
The individual girls Giant Slalom results for local skiers were: 8, Hallie Bartlett, PI, 47.57, 48.05 and 1:35.62; 9, Chelsey Carroll, PI, 47.89, 48.28 and 1:36.17.
The individual girls Slalom results were: 13, H. Bartlett, PI, 46.31, 46.74 and 1:33.05.
The Aroostook League championships for Alpine skiing will be held Saturday at Lonesome Pine Trails in Fort Kent beginning at 9 a.m.
