Volunteers with the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum will once again be host at their annual Chocolate Festival on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center on Bennett Drive.     Proven to be highly irresistible and very successful, this annual event is a ‘rich’ chance to pick up some very special Valentine’s Day gifts for all of your ‘sweethearts.’
Upon entering the lobby, festival-goers will immediately be captured by the heady aromas that  seem to just carry one along through the doors and into the main event area. Once inside, the aromas are accented by the visual of never-ending tables laden with all things chocolate.
Proceeds from the annual Chocolate Festival will benefit the future of the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum  project which will offer hands-on learning and discovery for area children and their families.
Coupon booklets containing 13 tickets will be sold for $10 or 6 for $5. An admission donation of $2 is requested from those who do not wish to purchase a coupon booklet. With each coupon, guests will be able to choose a chocolate treat from thousands of choices.
Also featured during this enchanting chocolate event will be an auction, with more than 100 items, available to be bid upon, beginning at 11 a.m.
Visitors will also discover a variety of chocolate activities for youths featuring a bouncy house, S’mores making, WONKA bingo, face painting and chocolate-themed contests. Also at the chocolate festival will be many different vendors.
Raffle tickets on a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond and a bird feeder will also be sold during the day.
As part of her Girl Scout Gold Project Award, Haley Smith, a sophomore at Presque Isle High School, will be sponsoring the Reading and Crafts Corner during the festival where children will be crafting book marks, creating chocolate moose drawings and participating in many other activities.
