Mason O. Mitchell, 80, of LAPORTE, Indiana, died Friday January 22, 2010. He was born February 17, 1929 in Roxanne, Kentucky, the son of Hiram Mitchell and Mary (Shephard) Mitchell.
Mason owned and operated the Mitchell Trucking Co. and Mitchell Farms in Presque Isle and Van Buren. He was a member of Moose Lodge of LaPorte, and Elk Lodge of LaPorte and Presque Isle. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Kay Kellems of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Brenda Krause of LaPorte, IN, and Mary Crosslin of LaPorte, IN; two sons, Lonnie Mitchell of Gorham, ME, and Hiram Mitchell of LaPorte, IN; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lela Walters of LaPorte, IN, and Nelie Emby of Franklin, OH, and one brother, Jonah Mitchell of Somerset, KY.
Mason was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella Mae Mitchell, two sisters and five brothers.
