The boys basketball regular season came to a close Friday, with Central Aroostook winning in style in a game where all the players on the roster saw plenty of playing time in the win over Van Buren.

The Panthers take the No. 2 seed into the Eastern Maine Class D tournament with their 17-2 record. Washburn (12-6), by virtue of its win over Fort Fairfield Thursday in both teams’ regular season finale, moved up to No. 5 in the standings. The Tigers (16-2) held on to the No. 3 slot as they combined the loss to Washburn with a win over Hodgdon earlier in the week.
Easton closed out its campaign with a home win, while Ashland lost at home in the final contest ever at the 60-year-old Bobby Goding Gymnasium. Both the 8-10 Bears and the 7-11 Hornets failed to qualify for this year’s post-season.
