PRESQUE ISLE — Two accidents in the Star City, that occurred within an hour of each other on Saturday, Jan. 23, resulted in only minor injuries.
The first incident was reported around 11:17 a.m.

“I investigated a crash that occurred on the Centerline Rd. involving a snowmobile and another motor vehicle. Matthew Keizer, 39, of Concord, Mass., was traveling east on a snowmobile on the trail system and was attempting to cross the roadway, while Richard Nichols, 67, of Fort Fairfield, was traveling south on the Centerline Rd,” said Sgt. Joey Seeley, Presque Isle Police Department.
Seeley indicated both high snowbanks prevented either driver from seeing the other.
“Due, in part, to the high snowbanks, neither Nichols nor Keizer saw one another. As Keizer went to cross the roadway, he ran into the side of Nichols’ vehicle. There were no injuries and both vehicles could be driven from the scene,” he said.
Keizer’s 2004 Yamaha, Model 1000, sustained approximately $1,200 in front-end damage. He was wearing a helmet and was not hurt. Nichols’ 2004 Chevrolet four-door sustained over $4,000 in damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. Nichols was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured.
No charges were brought as the result of the accident.
Seeley responded a short time later across town, when a second accident occurred on Industrial St.
“At approximately 12:06 p.m., the PIPD investigated a two-vehicle crash that occurred in front of Buck’s Market on Industrial St., injuring two individuals,” said Seeley.
According to Seeley, a vehicle being operated by Alicia Beaulier, 40, of Mapleton, was traveling northeast on Industrial St. and was attempting to turn left into the parking lot at Buck’s Market. Christie Corey, 41, of Presque Isle, was traveling southwest on Industrial St.
“Ms. Beaulier turned in front of Ms. Corey and was struck broadside. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and were both considered a total loss,” said Seeley.
Beaulier’s 2002 Jeep SUV sustained extensive damage to the passenger side of the vehicle and was towed by Jerry’s Wrecker Service of Presque Isle. Beaulier was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Her passengers included Terri Mcintosh, 37, of Castle Hill, and a 9-year-old male, also from Castle Hill. Both were wearing their seatbelts.
“Crown Ambulance transported the 9-year-old male to The Aroostook Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Mcintosh was transported to TAMC by a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Seeley.
Corey was operating a 2004 Chevrolet four-door, which sustained extensive front-end damage and was towed from the scene by Cowett’s Towing of Presque Isle. Corey and her passengers — Eric Corey, 34, and a 12-year-old female, both from Presque Isle — were all wearing seatbelts and were uninjured.
No charges are pending in this case.
Seeley was assisted at the scene by Officer Larry Fickett, PIPD, as well as two off-duty members of the Presque Isle Fire Department, Tony Robichaud and Matthew Lajoie.
