Students wear heart health support on sleeves

New Sweden, Woodland classrooms ‘go red’ for women’s cardiac care
Virtually every student from New Sweden or Woodland who was wearing red on Feb. 5 had a reason for doing so and could even tell you why, as proved by the pre-K and kindergarten students of Lindsey Mattila’s class at New Sweden.

Showing support for the women in their lives, and the women that little girls undoubtedly grow up to be, the students of the schools participated in National Wear Red day on Feb. 5. The coordination of the wardrobes of so many youths is never an easy thing, but Colett Thompson of the New Sweden and Woodland schools took the challenge and ran with it for a good cause.
To encourage participation, Thompson created a National Wear Red Day photo contest where the classrooms were encouraged to take a creative photo of the students adorned in their red attire.
